How Are Bulk Custom Bobbleheads Made? Our 4-Step Production Process

Ordering hundreds of custom bobbleheads may sound complicated, but the process does not have to be.

At BulkBobbleheads.com, we use a simple four-step process to turn a customer’s design into a finished bulk order:

Design Confirmation → Sculpting & Approval → Finished Sample & Approval → Bulk Production

Most importantly, customers have the opportunity to review and approve the custom bobblehead before we begin full production.

Here is how the process works.

Step 1: Confirm the Customer’s Design

Every bulk custom bobblehead project starts with the design.

Customers may provide photos, mascot artwork, character designs, sketches, company logos, clothing references, or other images that help us understand exactly what they want to create.

Before sculpting begins, we first confirm the overall design, including important details such as:

  • Character or person
  • Pose
  • Clothing
  • Accessories
  • Logos
  • Base design
  • Colors
  • Other special requirements

For a company mascot, the customer may already have complete character artwork.

For a custom bobblehead based on a real person, we normally work from clear photographs together with any instructions about clothing, pose, accessories, or branding.

Once the design is clear, our sculptors can begin creating the physical model.

Step 2: Sculpt the Master Model and Get Customer Approval

The second step is creating the master sculpt.

Our artists sculpt the custom model based on the approved design and reference materials.

When the sculpture is ready, we send photos to the customer for review.

The customer can check the shape, proportions, facial features, pose, clothing, accessories, and other important details.

If something needs to be changed, we make the requested revisions and send updated photos for review again.

We continue making reasonable revisions until the customer is satisfied with the sculpted model.

This stage usually takes about one week, depending on the complexity of the design and the number of revisions required.

Only after the customer approves the master sculpt do we move to the next stage.

Step 3: Create and Approve the First Finished Sample

After the sculpted model is approved, we use it to create the first finished sample.

The sample goes through the actual finishing process, including molding, hand finishing, polishing, painting, assembly, and other necessary details.

This is important because the customer is no longer reviewing only a sculpture.

They can now see what the actual finished bobblehead will look like.

We carefully finish and paint this first piece so that it can serve as the standard finished sample for the bulk order.

Photos of the finished sample are then sent to the customer for approval.

The customer can review details such as:

  • Overall appearance
  • Colors
  • Facial details
  • Clothing
  • Logos
  • Accessories
  • Base
  • Final finishing

This stage normally takes approximately one week.

We do not begin full bulk production until the finished sample has been confirmed.

Step 4: Begin Bulk Production

Once the customer approves the finished sample, we begin production of the complete order.

The approved sample becomes the standard that our production team follows for the remaining pieces.

Production time depends mainly on the order quantity and complexity of the design.

For most orders of 500 pieces or fewer, bulk production can usually be completed within approximately 3–4 weeks after the finished sample has been approved.

Larger orders may require additional production time.

Throughout bulk production, our team works to keep the shape, colors, details, and overall appearance consistent with the approved sample.

Because many finishing and painting processes are completed by hand, slight variations between individual pieces may naturally occur.

How Long Does the Complete Process Take?

For a typical bulk custom bobblehead order, the production timeline may look like this:

Design Confirmation

Master Sculpt & Customer Approval — About 1 Week

Finished Sample & Customer Approval — About 1 Week

Bulk Production — About 3–4 Weeks for Orders Up to 500 Pieces

Shipping

The exact timeline can vary depending on the quantity, complexity of the design, customer revisions, and shipping method.

If your bobbleheads are needed for a company event, conference, anniversary, retirement party, product launch, or another fixed date, please tell us your required in-hand date when requesting a quote.

We can then evaluate the production and shipping schedule before the project begins.

Express Air Shipping by FedEx

After bulk production is completed, we usually ship orders by FedEx air express.

For many destinations, express air shipping normally takes approximately 5–8 days.

Air shipping is a good choice for most custom bobblehead orders because it provides relatively fast and reliable international delivery, especially when the products are needed for a specific event date.

Sea Shipping for Larger Orders

For larger orders—especially several hundred pieces or more—sea shipping may also be an option if the customer has enough time before the required delivery date.

The main advantage of sea shipping is cost.

For larger and heavier shipments, sea freight can be significantly less expensive than air shipping.

However, it also takes considerably longer.

Depending on the destination and shipping arrangement, sea shipping may take approximately 20–30 days.

Therefore, we normally discuss this option with the customer based on:

  • Order quantity
  • Package volume and weight
  • Delivery destination
  • Required in-hand date
  • Shipping budget

If time is the priority, air shipping is normally the better choice.

If the order is large and the schedule is flexible, sea shipping may provide significant savings.

Why Do We Ask for Approval Before Bulk Production?

For custom-made products, customer approval is one of the most important parts of the process.

Imagine ordering 500 custom bobbleheads and discovering after production that an important detail is not what you expected.

Our process is designed to reduce that risk.

Before producing the complete quantity, customers have two important opportunities to review the project:

First approval: the master sculpt

You review the shape, pose, proportions, likeness, clothing, and other sculpted details.

Second approval: the finished sample

You review the actual finished appearance, including painting, colors, logos, accessories, and final details.

Only after these stages are confirmed do we proceed with the complete bulk order.

This gives both the customer and our production team a clear standard to follow.

What Types of Bulk Custom Bobbleheads Can We Produce?

Our bulk production process can be used for many different custom projects, including:

  • Company mascot bobbleheads
  • Corporate promotional bobbleheads
  • Founder and executive bobbleheads
  • Employee recognition gifts
  • Retirement bobbleheads
  • Brand characters and mascot figurines
  • Sports and team bobbleheads
  • Event giveaways
  • Company anniversary gifts
  • Promotional figurines
  • Custom character figurines

The starting point can be a person’s photograph, an existing company mascot, character artwork, a sketch, or another custom design.

How Many Custom Bobbleheads Can You Order?

We work with different quantities depending on the needs of each project.

A business may need 50 or 100 pieces for an internal company event, while another customer may need 250, 500, or more pieces for a promotional campaign or large event.

The quantity affects both production time and shipping options.

For example, an order of a few hundred pieces can often still be shipped efficiently by air.

For larger orders with a flexible delivery schedule, sea freight may become more economical.

When requesting a quote, providing both the quantity and required delivery date helps us recommend the most suitable production and shipping plan.

Custom Made Before Mass Produced

One important difference between our custom bobbleheads and ordinary promotional products is that the design is developed specifically for each project.

We do not simply take a standard figurine and print a different logo on it.

The process begins with your design.

We sculpt the custom model, let you review it, create the first finished sample, let you review it again, and only then begin producing the complete quantity.

That is how we combine custom craftsmanship with bulk production.

More Than 15 Years of Custom Bobblehead Experience

At BulkBobbleheads.com, our team has more than 15 years of experience creating custom bobbleheads and figurines for customers around the world.

We understand that when a business orders hundreds of custom products, getting the first design right is extremely important.

That is why our process focuses on customer review and approval before mass production begins.

From the initial design and sculpting to the finished sample, bulk production, and international delivery, our team manages the project step by step.
